ETHICS AND RULES OFFICE

The purpose of the Ethics and Rules Office, with the Ethics and Rules Committee, is to protect the interests of the Navajo Nation by requiring the highest standard of ethical conduct by elected officials and employees of the Navajo Nation. Presently, the office provides administrative support to the Ethics and Rules Committee, along with educating the public, monitoring and ensuring compliance with the Navajo Nation Ethics in Government Law.

PURPOSE

To provide administrative support to the Ethics and Rules Committee of the Navajo Nation Council in monitoring and enforcing compliance with the Navajo Nation Ethics in Government Law, and other applicable laws of the Navajo Nation.

To protect the interests of the Navajo Nation in requiring the highest standards of ethical conduct by the elected and appointed public officials, officers and representatives and employees of the Navajo Nation, in the performance of their public and official duties and functions.

To protect the interests of the Navajo people in fair, honest and efficient conduct of the government of the Navajo Nation.

Maintain in accordance with the applicable laws of the Navajo Nation, complete and current written records all laws, resolutions, rules, regulations and other official documents, rulings, decisions, and opinions relating to standards of ethical conduct.
